The Chronicle of Tempest

About the Server

Who we are, why we built this, and what we refuse to compromise on.

Our Story

Born in the Ruins of a Dead Server

When the last official classic realm we called home went dark, four legion-mates refused to hang up their wings. We had raided together for a decade — through Dark Poeta wipes at 3 a.m., through siege nights where the frame rate died before we did. Losing the world felt like losing a hometown.

So we rebuilt it. Aion Tempest began in 2023 as a weekend emulator project and became something far more stubborn: a fully rebalanced Aion Classic 4.8 realm running on modern infrastructure, maintained by people who read every crash log and answer their own support tickets.

Three years later, thousands of Daevas call the Tempest home. The rule that started it all still stands above every design decision we make: build the server we always wished someone else had built for us.

The Vision

Three Vows We Keep

Permanence

No wipe-and-relaunch cycles, no cash-grab seasons. Your character in year one still matters in year five. Infrastructure is funded eighteen months ahead at all times.

Fairness

The shop sells skins, dyes and mounts — never enchantment stones, never gear, never convenience that becomes power. Every advantage on this server was fought for.

Transparency

Open patch notes, public ban reports, drop-rate tables you can actually read. When we change a number, you learn the old value, the new one, and the reason.

Gameplay Philosophy

“Aion was never meant to be rushed. The climb to Daeva, the first flight over Verteron, the terror of your first Abyss gank — friction is the story. Our job is to remove the grind that wastes your time and protect the grind that earns your pride.”
— The Tempest Core Team

Engineering the Storm

Custom Systems

Everything below was written in-house on top of the emulator core — and every one of these systems ships with public documentation.

System 01 — PvPvE

The Siege Engine

Our reworked siege scheduler tracks faction participation in real time and scales Balaur assault waves to match. Outnumbered factions receive Aetheric Surge buffs so a 40 v 70 siege is an uphill battle — not a foregone conclusion.

  • Dynamic Balaur difficulty per fortress
  • Underdog surge buffs, capped and published
  • Weekly dominion rewards mailed automatically

System 02 — Competitive

Tempest Ladder

A seasonal rating layered on top of Abyss rank. Kills, siege contribution and Dredgion performance feed one visible score — the same one that powers the Rankings page. Decay keeps ladder camping impossible.

  • Quarterly resets with cosmetic-only rewards
  • Anti-feeding heuristics reviewed by humans
  • Full API access for legion websites

System 03 — Economy

The Broker Court

Server-wide price indices, weekly kinah sinks tied to housing and appearance, and a bot-hostile trade pipeline. Inflation on Tempest has stayed under four percent per season since launch — and the graphs proving it are public.

  • Live broker price index in the client
  • Craft orders: commission work to artisans
  • Monthly economy report from the team
